Dear Friends,

Creation season is coming to an end, and we will be marking the move into the next church season by celebrating Harvest Festival together this month. At Harvest time we give thanks to Farmers and all who work to bring us our food, acknowledging their hard work and dedication. We also give thanks to God for His good provision. It is also important for us to reflect and think about those who do not have enough to eat. Harvest is a good opportunity for us to find practical ways of helping those most in need. Here in Caldecote we will be collecting food and toiletries for our local Foodbank. All donations will firstly go to the Cambourne Distribution Hub and then on to the Cambridge City Foodbank Depot, where items are weighed and reassembled into different sized boxes to meet the needs of individuals and families.  Each box contains daily essentials, as well as toiletries, and food staples which last over a longer period. These are then distributed through many collection points in the area (such as the Catholic Church in Cambridge, for example) to local families in need. Provision is also made for emergency walk ins and homeless people who may turn up looking for urgent help. As Christians, we are called to be good neighbours and to look out for those most in need. Jesus shows great love and compassion to all who ask for his help. This Harvest time, as we give thanks to God for all His goodness, lets also recommit to following Jesus’s example in everything we do.

God Bless,

Clare
