The Revd Canon Sue Wyatt has been appointed Rural Dean for our deanery, the Deanery of Bourn.
Sue, who before her retirement in 2016 served as vicar at St John’s Church in Cambridge, is also an Honorary Canon of Ely Cathedral. One year ago in January 2017 she joined the Lordsbridge Team Ministry.
The Ven. Alex Hughes, Archdeacon of Cambridge, will commission Sue this Thursday (25th January 2018).
In a note accompanying the announcement, the Bishop of Ely, the Rt Revd Stephen Conway, said:
I am immensely grateful to Canon Wyatt for agreeing to take on the role of Rural Dean of Bourn for this year. Sue has a fine reputation for supporting the well-being of clergy and lay colleagues, and it is my hope that her appointment will enable a positive conversation within the deanery about its future. I would like to express my gratitude especially to John Crang, who as Lay Chair has sustained the life of the deanery in the absence of a Rural Dean, and to Canon James Blandford-Baker for the ministry he offered in that role.
