We’re looking for more gardens to take part in Caldecote Open Gardens over the weekend of 23/24 June. Find out what’s involved here.
What kind of garden are we looking for?
All sorts – the joy of the event is the sheer variety of shapes, sizes and styles, from vegetable gardens to kids’ paradises. Whether you have chickens, prize chrysanthemums or can bake cakes or snacks to sell, or can simply offer a quiet green space to sit for a while, we’d love to have your garden involved.
What does it involve?
Gardens open from 2pm to 6pm on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th June 2018, but if you can only open one of the two days, that’s absolutely fine.
The main requirement is that there is access to your garden from the road and someone available to be ‘on the door’ through the afternoon. Email or call me to ask any questions you might have. Visitors love the event, and it can be a really rewarding experience to meet people with the same interests – whether the focus is your plants, landscaping, animals or something else.
We’ll provide you with a gardener’s pack with programmes, stickers, a cash float and raffle tickets to sell at your entrance table.
Something other than a garden to share?
If you’re an artist, why not show your work? Or if you have some other hobby, why not use the Open Gardens to share it? Email me (Dona McCullagh) and I can match you up with a suitable garden with a summerhouse or marquee to house your stand.
How does it help the church?
All the money raised at this year’s Caldecote Open Gardens will play its part in our plan to get us on a sustainable financial footing. For more information on why we need to increase our annual income, and how the target of £7,000 a year can be reached, see Planning for the Future of Caldecote Church.
Every garden that takes part increases the fundraising potential of the event, so if you’re considering opening your garden, thank you!
